Nassar Darawshi leads one of Nazareth’s most respected olive oil centers. A master of his craft, he and his family oversee every stage of production — from nurturing the groves to blending oils from diverse varieties like Suri, Nabali, and Picual. His work celebrates the depth of Palestinian terroir and the art of thoughtful cultivation, producing oils that speak of both heritage and innovation.

Farming Method: Organic practices, traditional methods, rain-fed, hand-picked.

Nestled near Nazareth in the Lower Galilee, Iksal lies between rolling green hills that have nurtured olive trees since ancient times. Archaeological traces from the Roman and Byzantine periods reveal the village’s long connection to agriculture and oil pressing. Families here continue the rhythm of harvests that began millennia ago — collecting olives by hand and pressing them within hours to preserve their bright, living character.

The air in Iksal still fills with the scent of new oil each autumn, a reminder of how deeply olives shape the land and community.

“The Kalamata bottle features a drawing of three Palestinian men, a love letter to our men. I created it while thinking of the men in my life and all they’ve given. Through this artwork, I wanted to honor them — the farmers, fathers, brothers, and sons who continue to nurture both the earth and the stories that grow from it.”

Pairing Suggestions: Salads, roasted vegetables, lentil dishes, or fresh bread with zaatar.

Serving Suggestion: Drizzle over warm dishes or greens to bring a smooth, sweet balance and the distinct character of Palestinian-grown Kalamata olives.

Delightful

This is a full flavored olive oil which I found enhanced any salad or dish. I found it to be very much worth the slightly longer wait than some may become accustomed to in our rush delivery world.

I got this as a birthday present for my very italian, olive loving dad, who loved it. We’ve had olive oil from spain, italy, Portugal, greece-but there’s nothing quite like this. As a Catholic, there is something very special about tasting the olive oil of the land that Jesus hailed from. The product itself is the best of the best- but so is the customer service. I reached out for tracking and got a response right away. I hope to be ordering again soon 🥰 love to palestine from california
