About this oil

This is the oil to pour when you want people to notice the oil. From the rocky terraces of Burqa, northwest of Nablus, Sameer Rashid Masoud's family picks centuries-old Rumi trees by hand. It opens with green almond and fresh-cut grass, turns herbal and structured, and finishes with a pepper that lingers. Give it a plate where it can lead: labneh, grilled meat, a ripe tomato.

Sameer Rashid Masoud

Tends centuries-old Rumi trees on Burqa's limestone terraces, with his whole family.

We pay every farmer 25 to 30% above the market price.

Sameer Rashid Masoud farms with his family, and in Burqa the year has a shape. They prune in winter, watch the fruit set in spring, walk the groves through the long dry summer, and pick by hand in autumn. Many of their Rumi trees are centuries old, thick in the trunk and rooted deep in the limestone hills northwest of Nablus. The family leaves the oil exactly as the land and the year made it. At harvest, families head to the groves at first light, and when the press runs, the village smells of new oil, green and peppery. That smell is the first thing out of this bottle.

★★★★★Burqa Rumi is delicious!

We waited a week before tasting the Burqa Rumi olive oil, but it was worth the wait. We had fresh home baked sourdough that we dipped in the oil mixed with Za’atar. Yum! I can’t wait to use it in different Mediterranean recipes.

Thank you so much for the olive oil. I love the light and fruity taste. It is great as a salad dressing. And it is from Palestine.
